Justin Cauntay, DO

Justin Cauntay "Pain comes from injuries or conditions experienced throughout a lifetime, and most people benefit when healing blood flow is restored to connective and muscle tissue. Strengthening the body’s ‘scaffolding’ also helps prevent pain and injury. It’s important to maintain both taut, stable ligaments and loose, relaxed muscles."

Dr. Justin Cauntay is interested in the full spectrum of integrative medicine, with a professional passion for finding and treating the root cause of chronic musculoskeletal pain, whether it originates in sports and dance injury, pregnancy and delivery, or a range of complex conditions. After 20 years of treating the body, he believes that most "mysterious" chronic pain resides in muscle tissue and is often overlooked by conventional medicine.

Many of Dr. Cauntay’s patients experience pain that doesn’t fit usual classification. They are often dismissed, relegated to chronic use of powerful painkillers, or have unsuccessfully tried surgical options and other therapies without relief. He believes that although medication can be an effective bridge to better function and quality of life, it comes with challenges of it own - and may mask the underlying cause of pain. To discover and successfully treat these exhausting, often chronic problems, Dr. Cauntay’s goals are to:

Dr. Cauntay knows that each person responds to different treatment, and he uses a wide range of tools to treat pain, accessing a network of healthcare providers as needed. With a background in both conventional and alternative medicine, he helps patients plan customized medical strategies.

He can help with a variety of problems including back and neck pain, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), headaches, fibromyalgia, and migraines. Some of the therapies he uses are osteopathic manipulation, prolotherapy, craniosacral therapy, trigger point therapy, acupuncture, and customized nutrition and exercise programs. Dr. Cauntay also draws on decades of experience in the gentle martial art of Aikido to teach body awareness and creates individualized programs of home exercises for optimal function and performance.
